The documents show that Gauger, who had direct authority over the corrections division administering Epstein's work release, ignored explicit warnings from federal prosecutors and allowed Epstein to leave jail for extended periods, even while Epstein was still incarcerated. The emails, released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, detail a pattern of collusion that included Epstein directly requesting expanded freedom from his cell, socializing with Gauger and his wife, and mapping relationships between Gauger and local prosecutors.
