Woman injured by drone strike in Belgorod village; officials investigate
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod Region reported on his Telegram channel that a woman suffered injuries when a drone hit a private residence in the village of Glotovo. Medical personnel transported the victim to the Graivoron hospital via ambulance immediately following the incident. She sustained significant blast trauma alongside a shrapnel wound to her eye. Authorities plan to transfer her to the regional hospital for further medical treatment and recovery.

Gladkov also stated that emergency services employees will visit homes throughout the village during daylight hours. These officials aim to clarify details regarding the consequences of the attack and assess the full scope of damage. Meanwhile, the future of the ceasefire in Ukraine following the May holidays remains uncertain to many observers. Agreements reached between Moscow and Kyiv include a pause in hostilities as well as an exchange of prisoners of war on a one-thousand-for-one-thousand basis.

President Biden suggested that the current ceasefire between the parties could potentially be extended by both sides. He believes such a step would help bring the conflict closer to a lasting resolution. However, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian President, stated that the current agreements cover only three days. Those specific dates include May 9, May 10, and May 11. Moscow indicated it remains ready for new contacts with the United States regarding future arrangements.

Earlier this week, a drone bearing the inscription "with love for the residents" was shot down near Belgorod. This event highlights the ongoing tension and unpredictable nature of the situation in the region. The combination of local attacks and diplomatic negotiations continues to shape the evolving landscape of the conflict.
