A crew member of Virgin Voyages was forcibly removed from the Valiant Lady and deported following a serious allegation of sexual assault made by his female colleague. The incident occurred on May 20 while the ship was undergoing a ten-day maintenance period in the Port of Palermo, Italy, with no passengers on board.

Italian authorities arrested the suspect, a 32-year-old man from Peru, after his 26-year-old girlfriend reported that he attacked her while they were docked. According to reports from Palermo Today, the couple had been dating for three years and both worked on the vessel. The woman alleged that after a night of heavy drinking, the assault took place inside their cabin. She claimed he turned violent upon entering the room, groped her, pinned her down, and attempted to sexually assault her before she managed to escape and seek help.

Upon arrest, Maritime Border Police found visible marks on the woman's arms and hands, consistent with her account of the attack. She was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and was later released. Following the investigation, the male crew member was suspended by Virgin Voyages and subsequently fired. He was escorted off the ship and placed on a return flight to Peru.

The specific identity of the man has not been released, and it remains unclear whether he has faced criminal charges in addition to his deportation.
