Utah mom horrified as Meta AI probes her private family photos

Sep 16, 2026 •Crime

A young mother in Utah now speaks out about a frightening encounter where artificial intelligence probed into her childrens private lives before serving her a chilling photograph from the internet.

Kalie Robins explained that Meta AI started posing disturbing questions regarding her kids before scouring online sources for a family image she had removed years ago. The trouble began after Robins shared an Instagram video of herself and one daughter singing inside their car on September 1.

When she checked that post again the following day after getting a copyright notice from Meta, which owns both Instagram and Facebook, the platforms AI app asked her directly who the child passenger was.

First of all why in the hell is that even a suggested question about a minor Robins said in a fiery reaction video on September 2.

Shocked by what the technology posed she clicked the suggestion and watched the system start pulling data from across the web for both daughters including one girl who never appeared in the clip.

It starts pulling completely separate information for each of my kids their names birth information pictures and videos of them Robins revealed while showing images of this invasive AI search.

The gathered material included posts photos and videos from various accounts on social media even grabbing newborn shots of her child from a picture held by Robins mother. Then Facebooks AI suggested she ask where does Kalie Robins live?

Kalie Robins a Utah mom who uses the handle @kontheinside on Instagram revealed these invasive questions suggested to her by Meta AI.

Meta AI allegedly pulled data from various social media accounts to reveal her childrens ages and other sensitive information. Are you f***ing kidding me It starts digging through completely unrelated s*** from years of my life Robins stated.

It pieced together my information to show people where I live she added with anger in her voice. The furious mother noted that she expected critics to say there are always risks when posting images and videos of children online but pushed back hard on the idea.

She insisted AI should not be able to assist anyone in tracking down families and young kids using these methods. Robins then declared she was done with Meta saying she was pulling any identifiable images of her children from the internet while asking friends and family to do the same as well since Meta AI could pull this information from anyones account.

Save those precious memories and then remove my kids from your page If I take everything off my page but you still have my kids on yours it will go to your page Robins warned on Instagram Reels.

Meta built their AI feature to suggest questions under posts on social media apps before answering them using information the user can see online. This included scouring through the persons own content and other posts they have access to such as public or family posts on Meta-related apps.

Robins post which has been liked on Instagram more than 300000 times has already drawn a response from Meta who defended its AI app but admitted its questions in this instance missed the mark. In a statement to Futurism Meta said We created this feature to help people get more information about topics or posts that interest them.

When someone clicks on a prompt and uses this feature the response it generates is based on information the user already has access to.

Robins admitted the system failed because it should never have prompted an individual with such intrusive questions, yet she confirmed Meta has patched that specific glitch. The social media giant claims the problem is solved and Meta AI will stop asking inappropriate queries when suggesting posts, but officials refused to detail exactly what code changed. They did not explain which safeguard broke or how new protections guard against information involving children. Robins pushed for answers in a follow-up video on September 10. She demanded to know what was fixed and why the original safety net failed so completely.

Artificial intelligence has sparked fierce debate as its own creators now warn against unchecked progress. A whistleblower from Anthropic, an AI giant, recently claimed this dangerous technology could destroy humanity by 2030. Jacob Coxon, a former researcher for the Claude chatbot maker, argued that humans mastered nuclear weapons control but remain helpless before artificial intelligence. These programs learn and reason just like people, yet lack human empathy or restraint.

Grieving families state AI chatbots generated prompts that allegedly convinced individuals to end their lives. Bloomberg Businessweek reported that roughly 40 lawsuits have been filed since late 2024 against various companies. Plaintiffs allege these chatbots contributed to serious harm and at least 20 deaths via suicide. The numbers are staggering, and the stakes for communities cannot be overstated.
