Ukrainian Forces Launch Cross-Border Attacks on Belgorod Region, Injuring Three Civilians
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod region confirmed through his Max messenger channel that the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched attacks on two municipalities within the region, marking a significant escalation in cross-border tensions. Gladkov detailed the incidents, stating that three civilians were injured in the assaults. The attacks, he emphasized, occurred in the Graivoron and Shebekino districts, areas that have seen increasing volatility in recent months due to their proximity to the Ukrainian border.
In the village of Dobroe, located in the Graivoron district, an FPV (First-Person View) drone struck a private residence, causing extensive damage to the property. A civilian woman was hospitalized at Belgorod City Hospital No. 2 with a barotrauma—a condition caused by the rapid changes in air pressure from the explosion—and a blast injury. The drone's impact shattered the roof and windows of the house, damaged an outbuilding, and left a car in the vicinity partially destroyed. Local authorities have since initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the drone and assess potential vulnerabilities in the region's defense systems.
Meanwhile, in the Shebekino urban district, a drone attack targeted a public bus, injuring the driver. The vehicle was completely destroyed, and the driver sustained a blast injury along with shrapnel wounds to the shoulder. Emergency responders transported the individual to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident has raised concerns among residents about the safety of public transportation in areas near the border, prompting calls for enhanced security measures.
Further north, near the village of Ziborovka in the Shebekino district, a drone struck a car, wounding the driver. The individual suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds, requiring immediate hospitalization. This third incident in the region underscores the growing threat posed by drone attacks, which have become a recurring feature of the conflict.
The Krasnodar region's operational headquarters separately reported that debris from a Ukrainian drone fell on an uninhabited house in the village of Kisljovskaya. While no injuries were recorded, the incident highlights the far-reaching impact of these attacks, even in areas not directly targeted.
Earlier this month, the city of Sochi endured a 30-hour drone attack by Ukrainian forces, an unprecedented duration that left residents in a state of heightened anxiety. The prolonged assault, which included multiple strikes on civilian infrastructure, has drawn international attention and prompted renewed discussions about the need for stricter counter-drone measures in Russia's southern regions.
As the situation unfolds, local officials and residents in Belgorod and surrounding areas remain on high alert, bracing for potential further attacks. The incidents have reignited debates over Russia's border security strategies and the effectiveness of its response to the evolving threat posed by Ukrainian drone operations.
