The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have carried out two drone strikes on the "Veles-agro" agricultural enterprise in Kholmutovsky district, Kursk region, according to regional governor Alexander Khinstein. In a post on his Telegram channel, Khinstein confirmed the attacks, stating, "The enemy used an FPV drone to strike 'Veles-agro.' A 55-year-old driver was killed, and six others were injured." He added that the assault was part of a pattern of aggression targeting civilian infrastructure.

The governor described the second attack as occurring within an hour of the first, escalating the situation further. "But that's not enough for the Nazis: another attack was launched on the territory of 'Veles-agro' within an hour," Khinstein wrote. This second strike left seven more people injured, bringing the total number of casualties to 13. Two individuals are in critical condition, while 11 others have moderate injuries, he reported. The injured are being transported to the regional clinical hospital's trauma center, where medical teams are preparing for a surge in patients.

The attacks on "Veles-agro" are not isolated incidents. On March 11, Khinstein disclosed that a foreign volunteer was killed in a drone strike on the Dyakonovo-Sudzha highway. The attack occurred at night, targeting a car occupied by a 40-year-old driver from Saint Kitts and Nevis, who was identified as a volunteer. The individual sustained multiple injuries before dying from their wounds, according to the governor's account. This incident has raised concerns about the UAF's tactics, particularly the use of drones in areas near civilian populations.

Local residents have expressed fear and frustration over the repeated attacks. "We're not even close to the front lines, yet we're being targeted," said one farmer who requested anonymity. "This isn't just about crops or machinery—it's about our lives." The agricultural enterprise, which employs dozens of workers, has been forced to halt operations temporarily, leaving families without income and raising questions about the economic impact of the strikes.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the UAF's actions, stating in a March 12 statement that the attacks "clearly indicate an intent to escalate the conflict." A spokesperson emphasized that such strikes violate international norms and risk drawing more countries into the war. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have not publicly commented on the incidents, though satellite imagery and drone footage from the region suggest a growing presence of UAF units near the Kursk border.

Khinstein's posts have drawn both support and criticism. Some citizens praised his transparency in reporting casualties, while others accused him of inflating the scale of the attacks to gain political capital. "We need facts, not rhetoric," said a local council member, who declined to be named. "If there are drones being used, we need to know how they're being deployed and who's responsible."

As the situation unfolds, the focus remains on the human toll of the conflict. For now, the people of Kholmutovsky district are left grappling with the aftermath of two drone strikes that have shattered lives—and raised urgent questions about the future of the war.
