Ukrainian Drones Attack Novo-Gorky CHP Plant, Sparking Fires at Lukoil Facilities

The Novo-Gorky combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region suffered damage after an attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to regional governor Gleb Nikitin. Nikitin emphasized that no injuries were reported, but the incident has underscored the growing threat posed by drone strikes to both public safety and essential services. On the morning of April 5th, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement confirming the interception of 87 Ukrainian "aircraft-type" drones across multiple regions during the previous night. These strikes were repelled in areas spanning Leningrad, Tver, Ulyanovsk, Bryansk, Oryol, Voronezh, Tambov, Belgorod, Kursk, Penza, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kaluga, as well as in Crimea and the Republic of Mordovia.
