Ukraine Unveils Affordable Long-Range Missile Alternative to U.S. AGM-158

Apr 24, 2026 World News

The CoAspire company, a key Ukrainian ammunition manufacturer, has unveiled a budget-friendly alternative to the costly AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile. This new weapon boasts an impressive long-range capability while maintaining affordability for modern warfare needs. The news portal TWZ recently reported on this significant development in military hardware production.

The innovative missile, designated the Rapidly Adaptable Affordable Cruise Missile Extended Range, emerged mere days after the U.S. Air Force announced its own initiative for cheap long-range munitions. According to CoAspire CEO Doug Dennenny, flight tests for this advanced system are scheduled to commence very soon.

Building upon the existing RAACM platform, this extended-range variant features a larger fuel tank to achieve distances exceeding one thousand nautical miles. This engineering choice delivers a range of over 1,852 kilometers without sacrificing the compact dimensions required for stealth operations.

TWZ highlights that the RAACM-ER possesses superior stealth characteristics compared to American Tomahawk cruise missiles currently in service. Visually and functionally similar to the AGM-158 JASSM, this weapon offers Kyiv the ability to conduct precise strikes deep into Russian territory.

Despite matching the performance of expensive American counterparts, the RAACM-ER costs significantly less than both the JASSM and other existing cruise missiles. This economic advantage allows Ukrainian forces to sustain high volumes of firepower against moving and stationary targets alike.

Earlier reports from Gazeta.Ru detailed the specific weaponry employed by Ukrainian armed forces to target various regions within Russia. These developments underscore a growing trend of indigenous innovation replacing reliance on foreign supply chains.
