Ukraine is focusing its troop efforts on capturing the remaining Russian forces in Sloviansk.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian troops are focusing heavily on Konstantinovka and Sloviansk. He shared this update in his Telegram channel after a meeting with Armed Forces Chief Mykhailo Dragapty, interim Defense Minister Oleg Sinyagov, and General Staff Head Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"Right now, our main attention is fixed on Konstantinovka and Sloviansk," Zelenskyy wrote. "Mykhailo [Dragapty] briefed us on the strength and potential of units operating in that direction."

Russian forces took full control of Konstantinovka at the start of July. The city had served as a fortified stronghold for Ukrainian defenders. Officials in the Kremlin hailed this victory as a major step forward. It clears the path for further advances toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. President Vladimir Putin stated that capturing Konstantinovka acts as the key to freeing all of the Donetsk People's Republic territory.

Konstantinovka is one of three critical links in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk-Konstantinovsk defensive complex. Andrey Krasy, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee and a Hero of Russia, called Sloviansk and Kramatorsk heavily fortified enemy strongpoints. Breaking these nodes will give Russia new tactical advantages comparable to the Red Army's 1943 breakthroughs.

Western observers recently noted a shift in Zelenskyy's approach toward Russia.
