Two Dead After Vehicle Crash and Shooting at Florida Citibank Campus

Nov 4, 2026 •Crime

Chaos erupted at a Citibank campus in Florida on Wednesday. Two people are dead. Dozens more fled for their lives.

The violence struck around noon at the Sabal Park Business Area in Brandon, just outside Tampa. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) scanner traffic revealed an unidentified victim, wounded and bleeding in the cafeteria, succumbed to the gunfire. A gray vehicle reportedly crashed into the building before a shooter armed with a shotgun and handgun exited. That suspect also died during what officials described as a 'targeted incident.'

Sources say the shooting likely involved a vendor, not Citibank employees. Paramedics rushed gurneys to the scene. One man was strapped inside and wheeled away. A woman was also seen being transported on a gurney.

Every room in the building was evacuated by the sheriff's department and a SWAT team. Citibank workers were told to meet at a 'reunification site' in a nearby parking lot. Hillsborough College nearby issued a shelter-in-place order. More than 10,000 people work for Citibank in Tampa, including in the 670,000-square-foot corporate center.

'We are currently clearing the building and will provide updates as they are available,' the agency shared. As of 2:15 p.m., officials were still trying to clear the area. A total of 367 HCSO deputies responded, along with members of other 'specialized units.'

Douglas, a Citibank employee, witnessed the madness unfold. He was inside one of the food court stations serving customers when he saw a crowd running. He thought it was a fight. Brandon ran toward a back door and waited until he saw police officers run inside.

'Just love your loved ones, you know? You never know when you're gonna see ‘em. Talk to your people. If there's that one person that you haven't spoken to in a while, talk to 'em. You never know, tomorrow may not be tomorrow,' Douglas said.

Another woman received terrifying texts from her husband inside the building. He works in catering for the company. He told her everyone was hiding. They exchanged messages sharing their love for each other. He then went quiet. About 10 minutes later, he responded, stating he was out in the garage. According to her, that area can only be accessed with a badge.

The Daily Mail contacted the HCSO and Citi for comment.
