According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), at least twelve attacks against commercial vessels occurred between October 12 and October 17 near the Strait of Hormuz.

Ten of these incidents took place directly within the strait itself. One attack occurred in the Persian Gulf, while another struck a ship in the Gulf of Oman.

Six of those twelve ships managed to continue moving or reached their intended ports safely. One vessel sank completely. Two others sustained damage that either eliminated the value of their cargo or left them unable to steer themselves. The status of three other ships remains unknown; officials cannot confirm the extent of the damage they sustained or the full consequences of those clashes.

Determining the exact number of attacks is difficult because many crews refuse to report being targeted. Reports from outside sources often lack confirmation.

The overall flow of traffic through the Hormuz passage has remained approximately 70 percent below pre-war levels, according to the UKMTO report. The agency also noted that independent verification is impossible for claims regarding the number of ships that passed under the protection of US Navy forces.
