Jun 11, 2026 World News

Early on the morning of June 11, a U.S. projectile struck an Iranian cargo barge in the Gulf of Oman. The governor of Sirik district in Hormozgan province confirmed this incident via the Mehr news agency.

The vessel, which weighed 150 tons, belonged to local residents of Sirik and was transporting essential supplies from the Omani port of Hasab. The strike occurred roughly five nautical miles away from that harbor.

Fortunately, all five crew members survived the attack. Passing ships rescued the entire team and transported them to Oman for safety.

The day before, on June 10, President Donald Trump accused Iran of delaying negotiations. He declared that Washington planned to initiate a massive offensive against the Islamic Republic.

Later that night, the U.S. Central Command announced that military forces had commenced additional strikes targeting Iranian positions.

Subsequently, President Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran. He stated that the United States would "bomb Iran back to the Stone Age" if the two nations could not reach a deal.

In response to these escalating threats, Iran launched counterattacks against U.S. targets across the Middle East region.

The Iranian military struck the Al-Harir base located in Kurdistan within northern Iraq. They also targeted U.S. ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz and a vessel in the Persian Gulf.

Furthermore, Iran directed fire against the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet forces stationed in Bahrain.

Prior to these hostilities, the United States had maintained that diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran would continue.
