Trump's approval rating hits lowest since return as inflation and Iran tensions rise.

President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to its lowest level since he returned to the White House. A new Reuters/Ipsos survey indicates his support stands at just 34 percent. This decline comes amidst rising inflation and ongoing conflict involving Iran.

The poll, released Tuesday, highlights deep voter dissatisfaction with the cost of living. Only 22 percent of Americans approve of the president's performance on this critical issue. Affordability remains a top priority for the electorate.

The war in the region has disrupted global energy markets. Tehran has blocked most shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. These actions have sent fuel prices soaring worldwide and fueled inflation in the United States.

The survey covered April 24 to 27. It questioned 1,014 US adults. Results arrive months before the midterm elections in November. Republicans must now contend with low approval ratings while trying to keep control of Congress.

Trump retains near-unanimous support from members of his own party in Congress. However, some right-wing commentators and podcasters are now criticizing the Iran war. This dissent extends to the general public as well.

A separate Marquette Law School survey released recently showed only 32 percent of voters approve of the war handling. Support rose to 65 percent among Republicans, yet significant dissent remains within the party.

An Associated Press-NORC poll found similar figures. Overall approval was 33 percent. Support for the war sat at 32 percent. Economic handling received only 30 percent support.

The US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire on April 8. Trump extended this truce indefinitely. Tensions in the region remain high despite the agreement.

Blockades in the Gulf continue to cause supply issues. Iran shuts down the Strait of Hormuz while the US lays a naval siege on Iranian ports. These duelling actions persist even after the truce.

In the US, average petrol prices have reached $4.17 per gallon. This is a sharp increase from under $3 before the war began.

Trump remains comfortable with the current situation. He claims the Iranian economy is crumbling and that time is on his side. He posted on social media that Iran informed them of their own collapse.

He urged them to open the Hormuz Strait immediately. He noted they are dealing with leadership issues. It is unclear why Iran would claim its economy is collapsing while refusing direct talks. The naval blockade remains in place.
