Trump Directs Declassification of UFO Files.
During a recent appearance at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, Donald Trump announced that he has directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to begin releasing government files related to UFOs and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Speaking at a megachurch on Friday to an audience of young conservative voters, Trump indicated that the process of declassifying these documents is already "well underway."
Trump noted that the administration has uncovered "very interesting documents" and stated that the first releases are expected "very, very soon." While the specific contents of the upcoming disclosures remain undisclosed, the president suggested the information would allow the public to verify the nature of these phenomena.

The move toward transparency follows a March request from the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's Task Force. The committee sent a letter to Hegseth demanding video files related to UAPs by an April 14 deadline. This follows September hearings where whistleblowers testified that the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), a division of the Department of War, holds video records of these phenomena.
The requested data includes more than 45 video files dating back to 2019, featuring "cigar-shaped" and "spherical" UAPs. The documentation reportedly includes footage of UAP formations near Syria and Iran, incidents near US airports and military installations, and a 2023 shootdown over Lake Huron. A specific request was also made for a video showing UFOs in formation over the Persian Gulf.

House representatives have expressed significant concern regarding the lack of disclosure, stating that the presence of UAPs in sensitive, restricted US airspace poses a direct threat to the security and readiness of the armed forces.
The directive to release these files was first outlined by Trump on Truth Social in February. In that post, he stated he would instruct Hegseth and other relevant agencies to identify and release all government information connected to extraterrestrial life, UAPs, and UFOs. Hegseth has since informed reporters that his department is currently "digging in" to the files to comply with the president's orders.

The issue of classified aerial phenomena has previously been addressed by other high-ranking officials. In a recent podcast interview, former President Barack Obama addressed the existence of aliens, stating, "They're real, but I haven't seen them.
Former President Obama once suggested that the absence of an underground facility at Area 51 would imply a conspiracy so massive it could hide secrets from the President of the United States. Donald Trump sharply criticized these remarks, telling reporters that the former president "took it out of classified information" and adding, "He's not supposed to be doing that."

The Pentagon has previously conducted investigations into UFO and UAP activity. In 2022, senior defense officials at the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) announced they found no evidence of aliens visiting Earth. A 2024 report from AARO concluded that most UFO sightings are simply misidentified ordinary objects and found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology appearing since the end of World War II.
Despite these findings, the federal domain aliens.gov has recently shown signs of activity, suggesting a potential increase in government investigations. The site currently displays an SSL error, a technical signal that the address may connect to a live server that is not yet fully configured for public access.

The United States maintains a long history of investigating unidentified phenomena. The U.S. Air Force launched Project Blue Book in 1974, cataloging over 12,000 UFO sightings. The project concluded in 1969 after officials determined there was no evidence of UFOs from other planets. Later, in 1995, Senator Harry Reid began pursuing interest in the subject, eventually driving the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program in 2007.
Federal authorities have investigated numerous high-profile encounters, including a 2014 near-collision involving Navy pilots and unidentified craft off the Florida coast. Now, the White House has announced that the FBI is investigating a string of missing scientists.

"In light of the recent and legitimate questions about these troubling cases, and President Trump’s commitment to the truth, the White House is actively working with all relevant agencies and the FBI to holistically review all of the cases together and identify any potential commonalities that may exist," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on X.
The Daily Mail has reached out to both the White House and the Pentagon for comment.
