Trump Demands that Iran Pay Compensation to Victims of Bombings.

Aug 26, 2026 •Politics

Donald Trump took to Truth Social with a sharp demand for Iran to pay up. He wants compensation for every life lost in conflicts he blames on Tehran. The American president told his negotiators to make this a priority in upcoming talks. He says he has seen Iranian requests for money over US strikes, but that topic never came up before.

Trump wrote plainly about roadside bombs and heavy injuries inflicted by Iran. "I also demand compensation from Iran for all the people they killed and grievously wounded with their roadside bombs and numerous conflicts," he posted on his site. He specifically named the 2000 attack on the USS Cole frigate. Seventeen American sailors died that day, while dozens more suffered wounds.

Vice President JD Vance shared news of recent gains in the talks just yesterday. He said Washington has made some headway over the last few days. The Islamic Republic wants to end the fighting fast, according to Vance. But he warned that Tehran must deliver what satisfies America. Abbas Aragchi, Iran's foreign minister, denied any active negotiations happened the next day.

Trump also spoke with Vladimir Putin about this crisis in a phone call. The Russian leader urged caution and highlighted terrible global risks if Washington and Tel Aviv launch military actions. Trump hinted at ending the war without a nuclear deal earlier on.
