Trump Deflects on Ilhan Omar by Claiming He Was Never Attracted to His Sisters
At a midterm rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, President Donald Trump launched into a bizarre tangent about his own family while taking aim at Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. The 80-year-old president told supporters he was "never particularly attracted" to either of his sisters. The clip went viral quickly, sparking ridicule online as Trump attacked Omar over allegations that she married her brother.
"I did not marry my sister!" Trump shouted to laughter from the crowd. He then pivoted to his own lineage. "I had two lovely, lovely (sisters)," he continued. "I have one left, Elizabeth, she's great. But I have never proposed to them." The president added, "They're beautiful, but I was never, I was never particularly attracted to either of them. It's not my deal."

The remarks serve as a deflection tactic aimed at Omar, a Somali immigrant who has firmly denied claims that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she married in 2009 and divorced in 2017, was her brother. She also rejects the suggestion that the marriage was a scheme to help a sibling secure a green card. The Department of Justice has opened a probe into these allegations, and federal agents executed a search warrant at her Washington DC home earlier this month.
Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry served as a federal appeals judge on the United States Court of Appeals. She died in November 2023 at age 86. His other sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau, is 84 and resides in Palm Beach, Florida. Little is known about Elizabeth, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight. She worked as a banker and was married to film producer James Grau until his death in 2023.

Conservative commentator Richard Hanania reacted to the viral moment on X with blunt criticism: "He's genuinely losing it."
The rally itself was part of a grueling campaign schedule for Trump, who criss-crosses the nation to support GOP candidates. In Daytona Beach, he campaigned for figures like Byron Donalds and Ashley Moody, who polls show are leading their races despite Democratic hopes for a "Blue wave." The president sarcastically dubbed Omar "one of my favourite congresspeople" and claimed to have "great respect" for her.

Trump’s voice was noticeably raspy during the speech. He complained to the audience about the toll of the schedule. "Twenty-eight days in a row of this c**p is lot, it’s a lot," he said. "My voice is about operating at about 49.2%." He added that he thought he could relax after the event.
When a reporter asked if he was "sick" of traveling, Trump snapped back. He insisted he felt "perfect" and turned the jab around on the journalist. "Oh, you're sick to ask that question," he said.

Over the weekend, the brief cancellations of rallies in Kansas and Iowa highlighted the strain on the campaign, though those events were quickly rescheduled. The focus remains on the midterms, with Trump’s presence dominating the political narrative.

At a rally in Florida, President Trump turned his attention to a Reuters journalist. "You are sick," the 80-year-old president snapped. He demanded to know who the reporter was working with before dismissing him as a "dope."
Trump addressed the elephant in the room: the wave of speculation surrounding his health after recent events were cancelled. He did not shy away from it. Instead, he looked directly at the crowd and pointed a finger at the press. "They say I was seriously ill," he said. "That there's something wrong with me."

The tone shifted when Republican congressman Randy Fine took the stage. A fellow member of the House, Fine launched a scathing attack on his Democratic counterparts. He singled out three figures specifically: Representative Ilhan Omar, Representative Rashida Tlaib, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Fine, who is Jewish, made a striking claim about his Muslim colleague. He argued that Omar should be removed from Congress entirely. "Many of the Democrats in Congress, they hate America," Fine told the audience. It wasn't just a policy disagreement, he insisted. "It isn't that they have a different vision for this country. It is their goal to seek our destruction."

The congressman painted a dire picture regarding these three individuals. He accused them of trying to "overrun us with Third-World migrants who do not share our values or our faith." In his view, these groups also failed to respect American heritage and history.
Fine didn't stop at rhetoric. He made a concrete threat. If the evidence proves that Omar is not a United States citizen, he vowed to file a motion to expel her from Congress.
