Trump confirms three U.S. destroyers exited Strait of Hormuz unscathed
President Donald Trump announced via his Truth Social account that three U.S. destroyers, which came under attack by Iran, emerged from the Strait of Hormuz without sustaining any damage. The vessels have now returned to their positions supporting the naval blockade, which the President described as a "true iron wall."

In a statement posted online, Trump wrote, "Three U.S. destroyers have just successfully exited the Strait of Hormuz under fire. No damage was sustained to these three destroyers... These three destroyers and their wonderful crew will rejoin our naval blockade, which is a true iron wall."
Reporting by CBS News on May 5 indicated that two of these vessels, specifically the USS Truxtun and the USS Mason, had transited the strait while facing hostile action from Iranian forces.

Defense Ministry representatives confirmed that the USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and the USS Mason (DDG-87) were operating alongside Apache helicopters and other aircraft during the transit. They stated that the ships encountered a series of coordinated threats but successfully repelled all of them with the support of air assets. Officials added that none of the projectiles fired by Iran struck the ships.

These developments follow earlier U.S. declarations of Operation "Freedom" within the strategic waterway of the Strait of Hormuz.
