Tokyo Maternity Brand Launches AC Jackets for Cats and Dogs

Aug 26, 2026 •Lifestyle

British families learned their lesson this summer regarding the struggle to stay cool in intense heat. Gadgets like fan-fitted neck braces and misting machines flooded city streets, while households scrambled to buy air-conditioning units. Yet it seems other nations and species are also experimenting with cooling solutions. Adorable images from Tokyo reveal how a maternity clothing brand has pivoted its focus entirely toward pets. Sweet Mommy has engineered a new air-conditioned jacket designed specifically for cats and dogs to regulate their body temperature. This white garment features two fans positioned on either side of the animal's torso, includes openings at the front for the legs, and is available in various sizes. A group of well-behaved animals modeled the creation during a promotional event last week, including Makana and Milk, two French bulldogs. Another model shown was Yuki, a male Munchkin cat wearing the jacket. The product comes in three different sizes to accommodate a wide range of pets. Towamaru, a Chihuahua, wore the coat which Sweet Mommy claims can lower the air temperature around animals by 4C. An earlier version of this wearable fan jacket is currently sold online for £60. The company states the design was created under the supervision of an animal doctor at Oasis Animal Hospital. They explain that the device is a battery-powered fan attached to thin material and blows air across the pet's body. The entire unit weighs just about 80 grams.
