Three Arrested After Young Woman Dies in Brazil Bungee Jump Scandal
Three additional arrests have been made following the death of a young woman during a botched bungee jump in Brazil. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, 21, was thrown over the Skeleton Bridge in Limeira, São Paulo, without a safety rope. She fell more than 100 feet and died at the scene.
Authorities have now detained three new suspects. One is a woman reportedly leading the group, seized in Rio de Janeiro. Two men were arrested in Limeira and Indaiatuba on Friday. One suspect allegedly took the GoPro camera from the victim before she fell. These new arrests follow the initial detention of three men who were later released.

Viral footage shows the horrific moment Rodrigues de Freitas was hoisted onto the shoulders of two men. She spread her arms as she was tossed over the side. Less than three seconds later, her body lay smashed on the ground while the rope remained coiled nearby.
The victim had traveled from a suburb to join a large group using unregulated operators. She requested to jump 'airplane style,' a maneuver captured in disturbing video. Three instructors lifted her above their shoulders before the fatal release.

Luis Felipe Feliciano Egoroff, 32, Maicon Fernandes Cintra, 42, and Vitor de Freitas Goncalves, 27, face charges of homicide with eventual intent. This legal charge suggests they did not plan to kill her but engaged in a dangerous act that caused her death.
Interrogation footage reveals conflicting accounts from the accused. Feliciano Egoroff, who carried the victim, told police he and Fernandes Cintra attached the rope. 'It's him or me who does that,' he stated. However, he repeatedly claimed he could not recall other details. 'After that it erased from my mind. I can't remember,' he said.
Fernandes Cintra described his role as the instructor at her feet. 'In the procedure, sometimes I'm the one who places the rope, sometimes it's Felipe,' he explained. He expressed confusion over the error. 'It's us three on the job. I can't understand at what moment I didn't see the rope,' he said.

This tragedy highlights the deadly risks of unregulated adventure tourism. Communities face the threat of similar incidents as operators prioritize profit over safety. The arrests signal a tightening net on those responsible for this preventable death.
I simply cannot understand."

The confusion surrounding the tragic death of Rodrigues de Freitas has deepened, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail. Investigators were provided with a GoPro camera intended to capture footage of her descent, yet the device has since disappeared without a trace. When pressed on its whereabouts, de Freitas Goncalves offered no answer to authorities, stating only, "Right, yeah, we don't know."
This disappearance of evidence comes just as the news broke that the bridge is scheduled for demolition to prevent future tragedies. Work on the explosive demolition commenced Wednesday morning, less than a week after Rodrigues de Freitas was thrown from the structure to her death. The catastrophic decision to destroy the site follows a desperate plea from a heartbroken relative who contacted a local politician. This official has long campaigned against the rogue cord and bungee operators exploiting the dangerous location.
