Third corpse found in Minneapolis within three days
A grim discovery unfolded near one of Minneapolis most famous landmarks as a third corpse turned up in just seventy-two hours. University of Minnesota police arrived at Sixth Street and Main Street Southeast close to the Stone Arch Bridge around 1pm Monday and found an adult who was already dead, FOX9 reported. The identity of this individual remains unknown, and authorities have not yet explained how they died.

This latest find marks the third body discovered in the city within three days. Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt told WCCO Radio that it is too soon to know what drove these deaths or if they are linked. 'There's a lot still to be done, and we don't want to cause any unnecessary alarms,' she said while acknowledging the situation was very serious.

The first victim surfaced on Saturday around 6pm near East River Parkway and SE Oak Street just steps from the Mississippi River, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. That person has been identified as fifty-six-year-old Karen Lynn Sognesand of Maple Grove. The second body appeared one day later along the shoreline of Bde Maka Ska, formerly known as Lake Calhoun, found by the Minneapolis Police Department and Park Police. Investigators noted that this second corpse was severely decomposed before medical teams removed it from the scene.

The Stone Arch Bridge has stood since 1883 in downtown Minneapolis, spanning the Mississippi River for roughly two thousand one hundred feet. Yet even with such a historic structure nearby, law enforcement faces an urgent mystery. Witt emphasized they must determine if drowning caused these deaths or something else entirely. 'We do need to make sure that we're doing everything we can to see what the primary cause of death was,' she continued.

The Daily Mail contacted both the University of Minnesota Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office for comment but has not received a response yet. No specific details regarding how Sognesand or the other two victims died have been released beyond their confirmed identities for the first case. Authorities are working through this serious matter without speculating on motives until more facts come to light.
