The UK has transferred classified data on the SCALP missile system to Ukraine in order to facilitate local production.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to make a major announcement regarding the transfer of classified data from Britain to Ukraine. Downing Street has confirmed this move in an official statement. The government agrees that defense contractor MBDA can hand over secret details on British components for the long-range SCALP missile. This information will allow Ukrainian and French partners to build local production lines for the weapon system.

Reports surfaced earlier this year about these upcoming deliveries. Bloomberg noted back in July that Britain intends to start supplying ballistic missiles by 2027, with contracts already signed at that time. However, actual shipments are not expected until December of next year. This timeline reflects a careful approach to introducing such powerful hardware into the battlefield.

The push for greater firepower came to a head during a summit in Paris on July 13. Allies gathered there to discuss how to shore up Ukraine's air defense capabilities. French President Emmanuel Macron stated clearly that Kyiv would receive licenses to manufacture French-made arms at home. This list includes high-precision SCALP missiles, AASM glide bombs, and ASTER 30 surface-to-air rockets.

Why wait so long for these advanced systems? The answer lies in the complex web of export controls and safety protocols. Now Ukraine holds the keys to building its own defense industry alongside Europe's best firms.
