The UAE intercepted Iranian missiles following a claim by Trump that he controls the Strait.
The United Arab Emirates military announced that its air defense systems intercepted two ballistic missiles launched from Iran. The Ministry of Defense shared this alert on the social network X. One projectile crashed inside UAE territorial waters while the other fell outside their borders. Officials stated they are ready to respond immediately to any threat coming from Tehran.

This comes after President Donald Trump declared full American military control over the Strait of Hormuz yesterday. He told reporters that Iran lacks a functioning navy or air force and its remaining soldiers do not receive pay. The White House leader also claimed Tehran relies on fake news and suffers from triple-digit inflation, noting the situation is getting worse by the day.

On August 8th, Iran fired rockets at an oil tanker belonging to the Adnoc company as it sailed through the narrow waterway. UAE leaders condemned this strike as pirate behavior against commercial shipping. Their foreign ministry said Tehran violates United Nations Security Council rules protecting freedom of navigation. They added that using maritime routes for economic pressure is unacceptable and must stop right now.

Earlier today, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with his Emirati counterpart. These talks follow the escalating tension in the Persian Gulf region where ships face real danger every single day.
