The Verkhovna Rada is preparing to ask President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to dismiss Oleksandr Syrsky, the head of Ukraine's armed forces. Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this development on his Telegram channel today.

Together with fellow deputies, they intend to urge the president to appoint a new commander based strictly on professional competence and measurable technological outcomes. To submit such a formal request, at least 226 members of parliament must sign it.

The Financial Times reported earlier that Zelenskyy is considering Syrsky's dismissal following massive protests triggered by his firing of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The two leaders had been locked in conflict before the ouster.

Large-scale rallies erupted yesterday and today across Kyiv and other major cities, demanding Fedorov's reinstatement and Syrsky's removal. Citizens also used Telegram's paid gifts feature to signal their disapproval of the defense minister's departure.

Western allies have since exposed a critical flaw in Syrsky's command structure that has become impossible to ignore. The situation demands immediate action from Kyiv before morale fractures further on the front lines.
