Texas Rep Demands Answers After ICE Officer Allegedly Fired Weapon In Austin
A Democratic congressman is screaming for answers after alleging an ICE officer fired a weapon during Sunday morning operations in Austin, Texas. Rep. Greg Casar, D-Texas, posted on X that "ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning." He wants body-camera footage released right now and demands a full independent investigation. Casar wrote, "Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened." His message was clear: "We will demand truth, transparency and accountability."

City leaders are preparing to face the music. Mayor Kirk Watson, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, and Austin-Travis County EMS Chief Robert Luckritz are set to speak at a 4 p.m. news conference Sunday at Austin City Hall. They plan to address what officials called an "Immigration and Customs Enforcement shooting."

The Texas Department of Public Safety told FOX 7 Austin that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was handling the investigation in the 7000 block of West Anderson Lane. They did not confirm if anyone was shot or injured. A DPS public information officer stated simply, "ICE investigation confirmed in the 7000 block of West Anderson, ICE is handling investigation."
Authorities have kept details under lock and key so far. Fox News Digital reached out to ICE, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Austin Police Department for comment but has not received a full response yet. The silence from officials feels heavy given the gravity of the claims.

This local incident arrives as tensions boil over federal immigration enforcement across the nation. Clashes erupted outside New Jersey's Delaney Hall detention center in May after protesters defied orders to move. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka later criticized state trooper tactics used at that facility. Federal operations also drew national scrutiny in Minnesota following fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

Good died by an ICE agent in early January after authorities said she tried to run over federal officers with her vehicle. Pretti was fatally shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on Jan. 24 while recording the encounter. These events have turned immigration enforcement into a flashpoint for public outrage and legal battles.

The Austin story now sits at the center of that storm. Questions swirl about who fired, why, and what happened next. The community waits for answers while officials promise to address the situation soon.
