Study Reveals Most Men Prefer Women's Buttocks Over Busts
A new study has settled an old debate by revealing that most men hold a distinct preference for women's behinds over their busts. The question divides the public constantly, yet data now points one way. Many men certainly look at celebrities like Sydney Sweeney or Scarlett Johansson with admiration for their figures. Others fixate on stars such as Kim Kardashian and Cardi B because of their prominent backsides. Scientists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology led the investigation into how males prioritize these physical traits in a romantic partner. They asked nearly 400 men to rate the importance of buttocks and breasts. The findings showed buttocks clearly came out on top across the board. Lead author Professor Mehmet Mehmetoglu told the Daily Mail that men rated buttocks higher overall than breasts. More importantly, researchers consistently found a distinct group of men who strongly preferred buttocks alone. No equivalent group emerged for those who liked breasts exclusively. Highly Body–Oriented men reported high ratings for both features, while Moderarely Body–Oriented men showed moderate interest in each trait. Buttocks–Oriented men had a clear preference for buttocks over breasts, and Body–Unoriented men gave low ratings to both. For decades it has been known that these body parts are salient to men across diverse cultural contexts. Until now, however, the specific preferences remained unclear. The researchers enlisted 395 men who were quizzed about their personal tastes. The results revealed that males fall into four key groups based on these ratings. Highly Body–Oriented men made up fifty-three percent of the sample and valued both body parts highly. Moderarely Body–Oriented men represented twenty percent with moderate interest in both features. Buttocks–Oriented men accounted for eighteen percent and preferred buttocks over breasts clearly. Body–Unoriented men comprised nine percent and gave low ratings to both attributes. Surprisingly, the researchers did not find that any men had a marked preference for breasts over buttocks. Professor Mehmetoglu noted what surprised him most was actually what they failed to discover regarding breast preference.

New data shows men clearly favor bums over breasts when judging female attractiveness.
Researchers expected to find a separate group focused on chests, yet that did not happen. Every model tested produced a buttocks-oriented cluster instead. Men who rated breasts high also gave high scores to rear ends. This points to the bum playing a central and independent role in male desire. Breasts seem to act more as a complementary feature by comparison.

Why this preference exists remains unclear for now. Professor Mehmetoglu suggests attraction to glutes runs deeper in our history. The buttocks region may have served as a visual cue long before modern humans walked the earth. When our ancestors stood upright, face-to-face interaction became vital. One theory holds that permanently enlarged female breasts evolved partly as a sexual signal visible from the front.

But if men prefer women's bums, what do women like in men? Professor Mehmetoglu says women also notice male glutes and upper bodies. You can get an informal hint by looking around a gym. Men and women often put different effort into developing specific body parts. Some of that work reflects what they believe the opposite sex finds attractive. The gym is not a scientific experiment, but it offers an interesting starting point for thinking about which physical characteristics men and women tend to emphasize.
