Stabbed Father and Child Found Dead at Pennsylvania Resort

Oct 14, 2026 •Crime

A horrific scene unfolded inside a popular family resort where a devoted father and his three-year-old son were stabbed to death during an extended vacation. Investigators believe Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, used butcher knives to kill her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, 36, and their young child. The attack took place Monday at the Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania's Pocono region. The family hailed from the small rural town of Towanda, Pennsylvania.

Police were called after a 911 call described a suicidal woman who needed help dying. When officers arrived, they found the two victims inside their hotel room with fatal stab wounds. They also discovered knives, blood, and various medications scattered around the scene. The couple had booked a three-week stay at the resort, which can cost more than $600 a night. A spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge told Fox News Digital that while multi-week stays are uncommon, they do happen when families need space for home renovations or repairs due to large rooms and entertainment options.

Details on how the family paid for this lengthy trip remain unclear. The company referred questions about finances to law enforcement for specifics. They checked in on Sept. 21 and were scheduled to leave Tuesday. Metallica Rose Harrison recently shared photos of the group at the water park before the tragedy struck. A relative named Melissa Rivera, who identified herself as Chaz's sister, posted that their passing was sudden and left them heartbroken trying to come to terms with losing two people they loved so dearly.

Rivera created an online fundraiser for funeral expenses. She wrote that Chaz was a good guy whose whole life centered around his wife and child. He meant so much to the family, and the pain of losing both him and her nephew unexpectedly is hard to put into words. Social media accounts suggest the couple had been married for three years before this tragedy occurred.

Metallica Rose Harrison now faces criminal homicide charges. Court records show she is currently sitting in a Monroe County jail cell where bond was denied. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 21. A company spokesperson previously stated they are cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. This case raises serious questions about how regulations and government directives affect the public when violence strikes within trusted community spaces like family resorts. The risk to communities is palpable, especially when a place meant for joy becomes a site of such unthinkable loss.
