He added that while he would wait for investigators to release details, the fire occurring shortly after a contentious election period made it "very suspect, indeed."

Pratt, who was removed from the mayoral contest just days prior, believes the fire was an act of arson orchestrated by rivals. He expressed frustration with what he perceives as corruption in the city, stating, "There are many unscrupulous people in this city who will stop at nothing to silence people who expose the corruption that has overrun our city." He further speculated that the blaze might have been a reprisal for his opposition to incumbent Karen Bass and progressive candidate Nithya Raman, saying, "This fire is no accident, and it would not surprise me if the least if this were a reprisal for my work in opposing Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, and having the audacity as a civilian to try and do my civic duty and improve our broken city."

The business, which Pratt has operated since 2017 under the name Pratt Daddy, specializes in selling hand-cut gems. Pratt's interest in crystals reportedly began after his wife, Heidi Montag, underwent a series of surgeries that left her in severe pain, according to the company's website. The fire took place in a building that previously housed Cosa Nostra, a popular local restaurant that suffered damage during last year's destructive Palisades Fire. At the time of the incident, the building was undergoing renovations.

Pictures released from the scene showed thick smoke billowing from the structure and a large emergency response effort. Pratt thanked the LAFD for their quick response and hard work in extinguishing the flames. The fire erupted just hours before Pratt released a scathing video on X, where he pledged to go to "war" with the remaining mayoral candidates. In that video, he claimed to have obtained a secret recording of the mayoral hopefuls that would force them to resign if made public, though he did not provide any further details regarding the alleged recording. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that its arson department was notified of the blaze, and investigators are now working to determine the origin of the fire.

Following the mayoral concession by incumbent candidate Pratt, Nithya Raman secured her place in a November runoff election against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.
