Southwest Flight Attendant Dies in Tragic Fall at Hawaii Hotel

Aug 26, 2026 •Crime

A hardworking Southwest Airlines flight attendant died in a tragic fall from the 24th floor of a Hawaii hotel. Her family says she did not take her own life.

Jenny Lupton was found dead near dumpsters at the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort in Waikiki early Thursday morning, according to News 9. A hotel employee spotted her body there. The Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner believes Lupton fell from a balcony on the high-rise floor where she was staying.

Tresa Lupton, Jenny's sister and mother of one herself, refuses to accept that this was suicide. "We strongly believe that she didn't do this intentionally," Tresa told KFOR. She thinks something else happened. Maybe it was an accident or someone harmed her. The 50-year-old had worked for Southwest Airlines for 23 years. During this layover, she planned to head home to Oklahoma.

Tresa says the timeline makes no sense. Her family did not learn of Jenny's death until 24 hours after her body was found. "We want to see for ourselves how this all went down," Tresa said. The family is afraid foul play occurred. Authorities say the flight attendant's death remains under investigation.

Tributes flooded in on Facebook quickly. Friends and loved ones grieved deeply. They offered support to Jenny's 15-year-old son, Kaleb. Her niece, Hannah, wrote a heartbreaking message about how much her aunt meant to everyone. "My aunt, Jenny, passed away tragically and unexpectedly," Hannah wrote. "She left behind her son, Kaleb, and so many people who loved her deeply."

Hannah said Jenny was the best aunt anyone could have asked for. She lit up every party she attended. Her personality was impossible to forget. If you knew her, you probably had a funny story about her. Lupton inspired Hannah in countless ways. The niece is grateful to have had her as an aunt.

Hannah's heart breaks the most for Kaleb. "I wish he could have had more time with his mom," she wrote. "I wish she could have seen all the wonderful things he will become. I know she would have been so proud of him." Jenny somehow managed inside jokes with everyone she met. She turned simple moments into stories people remembered forever. She was unforgettable, loved, and the life of every party.

She will always be a part of me." That was the sentiment echoing through a community rallying behind the Lupton family, who have received a massive outpouring of support via Meal Train. Hundreds of donors stepped up to contribute, pushing the total raised past $20,000 in an incredible display of generosity. The money will help cover funeral costs and other immediate needs while honoring a life that clearly touched many souls.
