Son Arrested For Killing Mother After Shattering Neighbor's Windows

Oct 12, 2026 •Crime

A dark history has surfaced for the son accused of killing his mother in Florida, painting a grim picture just hours after neighbors started mourning their "sweet" neighbor. Manuel Farfan-Cabello, 28, was taken into custody on Friday inside Tamarac and booked with first-degree murder charges following the discovery of his mother's body shortly before 8pm. Officers from the Broward Sheriff's Office located Ylda Cabello-Ynocente, 58, riddled with multiple stab wounds at her home. She was declared dead right where she fell. Farfan-Cabello was tracked down later that same day and made an arrest.

People living next door told NBC 6 that Ylda was "very quiet," a stark contrast to the violence found inside. They confirmed police had visited the house before the fatal incident occurred. One resident recalled seeing her on the porch just days earlier, waving hello from afar. Another neighbor shared a chilling memory of Farfan-Cabello allegedly smashing every window in their home only a few months ago. That same afternoon, Ylda's son reportedly knocked on their door asking for a cigarette while covered in what appeared to be blood. Before the stabbing happened, he was also known to knock on doors down the street begging for money.

Farfan-Cabello stood before a judge on Sunday without bail and was ordered to get a mental health screening immediately. His ex-husband, Oscar Montero, told NBC 6 that processing her death feels impossible right now. "It's very hard to explain to you about how hard this is," he said, his voice heavy with grief. Rocio, Ylda's sister-in-law who flew in from Peru upon hearing the news, stated plainly that Farfan-Cabello suffers from schizophrenia. She noted he had received treatment yet kept having hallucinations and desperately needs more help now. The family returned to the house on Sunday to begin cleaning up the scene, according to Local 10 reports.

Rocio also said her kin are working to bring Ylda's body back to Peru where most of their relatives still live. Friends and neighbors described her as a devoted mother and a kind, hard-working woman whose faith held everything together for them. It remains completely unclear what triggered the stabbing that took her life so violently.
