Slater Challenges Nemeth to Become Youngest TNA World Champion

Leon Slater faces a once-in-a-lifetime chance this Sunday when he steps inside the ring for Bound for Glory to challenge Nic Nemeth for the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling World Championship. This event stands as TNA's premier pay-per-view of the year. It is where history was made and where legends were born, while also serving as a stage for wrestlers like Slater to build their own legacy.

Slater targets Nemeth's prize with determination. A victory would make him the youngest TNA world champion ever at just 22 years old. He confronted Nemeth on Thursday night's Impact episode and pledged to reach his goal. Director of Authority Santino Marella issued a specific stipulation that neither fighter could touch the other before their match began.

"Nic, let's get one thing clear – that rule isn't saving me," Slater stated during their verbal exchange. "That rule is saving you." He added that in a few days at Bound for Glory, he would finally defeat Nemeth and claim the title. At that moment, Nemeth will understand exactly why they call him The Youngest In Charge.

Slater has emerged as TNA's most prolific rising star in recent memory. He joined the company in 2023 and captured the X Division Championship in May 2025. He nearly set the record for longest-reigning X Division champion but Cedric Alexander spoiled his shot at history this past May.

Slater became a two-time X Division champion at Slammiversary by defeating Alexander in a Last Man Standing Match inside of a steel cage. His reign lasted only a few hours before ending. Later that same night, Slater addressed Nemeth and declared he would cash in Option C. This decision let him trade his X Division Championship for a shot at the world title. The match was then scheduled for Bound for Glory.

Slater now has a chance to etch his name alongside TNA Wrestling legends like Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Moose and Jeff Hardy. Getting past Nemeth will not be easy though. Nemeth is currently in the middle of his second reign after defeating Mike Santana for the title at Slammiversary. He earned that opportunity by winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. That match also takes place at Bound for Glory and will see at least one wrestler earn a world title shot down the line.

Now, Nemeth holds a shot to play spoiler against Slater. Bound for Glory is set to take place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The action will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on TNA+.
