Shooting at Alabama's Magic City Classic Leaves One Dead, Eight Wounded
The Magic City Classic in Birmingham, Alabama, ended in tragedy on Saturday evening. One person died and eight others sustained gunshot wounds near Legion Field. Birmingham Police Department officers arrived at the 400 block of Graymont Avenue West shortly after 7:50 p.m. They discovered nine victims at the scene.

One individual was pronounced dead upon arrival. Another remains in critical condition. Seven others are listed as stable. Authorities have not named a suspect, and no arrests have been made so far. Investigators recovered multiple firearms from the area.

The violence erupted outside the stadium after a game between the Alabama A&M University Bulldogs and the Alabama State University Hornets. Both schools are historically Black institutions that compete in this annual rivalry. The event usually pulls more than 100,000 fans into Birmingham. It features a parade, massive pregame tailgates, and the football match itself.

All remaining tailgating activities were canceled immediately after the shooting.

Police are urging anyone with video footage or information about the incident to contact authorities.
