Severe Storms Bring Flash Flooding to East Coast Cities
Millions of Americans face a soaking weekend as rain and thunderstorms target the East Coast. A cold front that brought severe weather across the Midwest is pushing east on Saturday. This system will bring showers and storms from the Carolinas through the Mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast. Warm, humid air will fuel these afternoon storms, potentially dumping heavy rain in a short time.

A Level 1 flash flood risk covers parts of the Southeast down to southern New England. Major cities like Atlanta, Raleigh, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and others are caught in this threat. The FOX Forecast Center warned that isolated flash flooding is possible through Sunday. Rainfall totals could reach one inch or more, with some areas seeing 1–2 inches if slow-moving storms stall.

Areas such as Charleston, South Carolina, are already feeling the wet weather. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect there. More precipitation and thunderstorms are expected overnight into Friday with a 50% chance of rain. Street flooding has already been seen in Bridgewater, NJ during recent storms.

The storm system will keep going. Staying along the I-95 corridor into Sunday, clouds could bring a soggy start to the day for Philadelphia, New York City and Boston. Heavy rain periods are still possible even as the cold front moves toward the coast. The good news is that high pressure should build early next week. This will allow much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast to finally dry out.

Do not let your weekend plans get ruined by a few hours of downpours unless you live in a flood zone. Stay informed but keep moving if you can.
