Seven-year-old girl critically injured after brutal attack by six stray dogs.
A seven-year-old girl in California is fighting for her life after a brutal ambush by a pack of six stray dogs tore her scalp off and left her with horrific wounds.
The attack occurred on Saturday near Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue in Corning, a small town roughly 170 miles northwest of San Francisco. Authorities from the Tehama County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident happened around 12:30 pm.

Seven-year-old Patricia Edmiston was rushed to a local emergency room before being airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center for advanced surgical treatment about 100 miles south.
Her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, provided a devastating account of the violence, stating that the dogs ripped the child's scalp away and that her granddaughter remains in critical condition with injuries covering her entire body.

Following the assault, the six stray dogs were seized by police and transported to the Tehama County Animal Shelter. Law enforcement has not yet identified the specific breeds of the animals or announced any arrests nearly one week later.

While investigators interviewed witnesses and processed the crime scene, the family faces severe financial and emotional strain as they wait for news.
Monica revealed that Patricia's father and brothers have been sleeping in their car in Sacramento to stay close to their hospitalized granddaughter. They are currently struggling to cover basic necessities like gas and food.

The family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for these urgent needs. As of Friday night, donations had surpassed the initial $3,000 goal, reaching approximately $4,100, though contributions have since been paused.
Despite the trauma, recent photos shared by her grandmother show Patricia smiling slightly while bandaged in her hospital bed, resting next to a Hello Kitty plush toy.

The investigation into how the child encountered the pack and what she was doing at the time remains ongoing, with no official statement released regarding the circumstances leading to the attack.
Patricia is expected to leave the hospital this Thursday, marking a hopeful turn in her recovery. Throughout her ordeal, her father and brothers remained by her bedside, with the family even sleeping in their car just to stay close to her. The Corning Union Elementary School District confirmed the attack via Facebook, stating that Patricia is currently being treated at UC Davis.

Her grandmother, Edmiston, has been sharing updates on social media, describing Patricia's resilience as "inspiring everyone around her." On Tuesday, Edmiston posted a photo of Patricia in the hospital, where the little girl posed with her relatives despite having her head and hand wrapped in extensive bandages. A Hello Kitty plush toy was placed beside her as she managed to crack a smile.

Other images shared by the family show Patricia full of life, posing with her siblings or flashing a lost tooth. Edmiston wrote that Patricia was scheduled to go home yesterday, Thursday. She added, "Patricia and her family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and donations. The love the town of Corning showed was overwhelming."
The Daily Mail has reached out to both Edmiston and the Tehama County Sheriff's Office for further comment.
