Seven Ukrainian drones intercepted and destroyed over Kaluga region.
Seven Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Kaluga region, a development confirmed by Governor Vladislav Shapsha via his channel in the "Max" messenger. The interception occurred across multiple districts, including Babyninsky, Medynsky, Kozelsky, Ul'yanovsky, and Khvastovich, as well as near the outskirts of the regional capital. Shapsha stated that operational teams are currently investigating the crash sites. Preliminary assessments suggest that no injuries occurred and there was no damage to local infrastructure.

This incident unfolds against a backdrop of escalating aerial activity. On June 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense systems neutralized 234 drones belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine between 07:00 and 20:00 Moscow time. The surge in drone attacks has prompted high-level responses within the Russian government. Alexei Zhuravlev, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, has publicly called for retaliatory strikes targeting Ukraine's transport infrastructure to halt these incursions. Compounding the tension, Russian authorities recently identified an unexpected target of Ukrainian drone operations within Moscow itself.
