Senator Shows Fauci Texts Addressing Vaccine Pregnancy Risks

Aug 26, 2026 •Politics

Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin dropped a bombshell on Sunday with fresh text messages from Dr. Anthony Fauci's government phone as his committee digs into how federal officials managed COVID vaccine safety worries, specifically risks linked to pregnancy. During an appearance on "Sunday Morning Futures," the senator displayed a new chat between Fauci and Dr. John Mascola, who once led the Vaccine Research Center under NIAID. Johnson claimed this exchange proves Fauci got data regarding pregnancy issues tied to shots. The message itself reads, "I am corrected on pregnancy studies. Initial Studies avoid vaccination in first trimester due to possible fever and higher rates of miscarriage in first trimester," Mascola wrote in the text Fauci opened on Jan. 25, 2021.

This revelation follows a broader accusation that officials were too slow to pivot during the pandemic, according to Dr. Marc Siegel. Johnson stated these texts raise more questions than they answer. It remains unclear who actually gave Fauci details about cytokine storms, an adverse reaction linked to the virus, based on a January 2022 study posted on the National Institutes of Health website. The senator noted his team contacted Mascola, who has hired an attorney, and he is hoping for cooperation from the doctor.

The investigation also surfaced an email Fauci received from Dr. Janet Woodcock, the FDA commissioner at that time. On May 27, 2021, she flagged concerns about adverse events after COVID vaccination and called for a study into the matter. Johnson charged Fauci with sitting on this information and failing to act accordingly. He pointed out that government officials tasked with surveilling for safety signals were not doing their job. When they saw something, they covered it up instead of acting.

Fauci declined a request from Johnson last Friday to voluntarily appear before a second Senate panel, sparking another front in Republican inquiries into the former public health official's handling of the pandemic crisis. Fauci's attorney argued that compelling him to testify again after his contentious July 29 Senate hearing would impermissibly harass or degrade Dr. Fauci for political purposes. That hearing featured him invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times. Fox News' Brittany Miller contributed to this report while details continue to emerge from sealed records.
