Selma Blair Apologizes for Delta Flight Incident in Emotional Video

Oct 31, 2026 •Entertainment

Selma Blair broke her silence on Friday. After weeks of legal maneuvering and public speculation, the 54-year-old actress issued an apology for the chaos that unfolded on a Delta flight earlier this month. Her lawyers had previously urged her to stay quiet due to the active legal proceedings. Blair acknowledged that advice but felt compelled to speak up now.

"Not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life," she stated in an emotional Instagram video recorded at what appeared to be her home. She addressed those she felt she had let down, saying, "And, so, to the people I disappointed, that I hurt, I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry." Blair added that her focus now is on caring for her health and her son, while holding her supporters close with "gratitude and love."

The incident traces back to Sunday, October 11. At approximately 11 p.m., Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) officers responded to a call at John F. Kennedy International Airport regarding a "physically abusive passenger" on Delta Flight 938. The plane had just arrived from Los Angeles and was parked at the gate. New York Port Authority officials confirmed to Fox News Digital that Blair was identified, taken into custody, and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Court documents paint a specific picture of the aftermath. Blair was reportedly restrained on a stretcher at the airport. She allegedly freed her leg and kicked a police officer in the face, neck, and chest, causing substantial swelling. The situation did not end with the officer. A nurse at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center alleged that Blair kicked her in the chest while staff members were moving the actress.

Blair was arraigned on October 12 facing two counts of second-degree assault. She pleaded not guilty. The judge set bail at $20,000 in cash, a $60,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secured bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for January 2027.

Delta Airlines maintained a firm stance on the matter. "Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first," the company said in a statement. While the airline confirmed law enforcement responded to an incident upon arrival, sources told TMZ that the trouble started mid-flight. According to those reports, Blair punched one flight attendant and bit another.

The legal fallout extends beyond the Port Authority charges. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Blair was separately served with a summons by the FBI and faces one additional charge of assault.

At the time of the arrest, the New York Post reported that Blair’s lawyer told the court the actress had missed several doses of a powerful medication used to control severe neurological symptoms. Later, representatives for Blair shared a lengthy statement with People magazine, pushing back against what they described as a narrative built almost entirely on police statements and a decade-old headline.

"We can, however, correct the record on a few points already in public circulation," the spokesperson said. They clarified that Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. The statement explicitly denied reports that she attempted to open the aircraft door. "Selma did not intend to harm anyone," the representative insisted.

The statement also addressed rumors questioning whether Blair actually has multiple sclerosis, a diagnosis she made public in 2018. For now, the speculation continues, but Blair has finally spoken directly to the public, offering an apology and a promise to prioritize her health.

The spokesperson dismissed the circulating rumors as "outrageous." He pointed out that Selma's physical progress over the years is "nothing short of a miracle."

More is happening behind the scenes than headlines suggest. The team urged everyone to weigh the full scope of facts before passing verdicts. This applies to formal proceedings in the courtroom and the informal trials in public opinion. Do not rush to judgment.
