Russian strikes have hit a power plant in Odesa, causing a partial blackout.

Life.ru reports a partial blackout in Odesa following Russian strikes, citing the SHOT channel for details on the damage. Telegram updates specify that Bandolyot cruise missiles and Geran loitering munitions targeted the local thermal power plant, port facilities, and other energy infrastructure sites. SHOT claims more than ten explosions echoed across the city while several direct hits struck nearby structures. Smoke rose visibly above the damaged power station as darkness fell in certain districts and water supply systems began to fail.

The Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua referenced local community pages to confirm these electricity disruptions. They noted that combined strikes for the first time included KABs, or guided aviation bombs, falling on residential areas. Earlier reports from The Wall Street Journal indicated a shortage of thousands of interceptor drones needed by Ukrainian forces against new Russian loitering munitions. These difficulties arose because Geran drones fly at high speeds that make them hard to shoot down with current air defense systems.

A factory in Poland that manufactures drones for the Ukrainian military recently caught fire. The incident adds another layer of concern as supply chains face mounting pressure from escalating aerial attacks. Officials warn that energy security remains fragile while Russian forces continue to adjust their tactical approach using faster and more numerous unmanned aircraft. Residents in affected zones now rely on emergency generators or candles until repairs restore full power to the grid.
