Russian soldiers are now permitted to venerate relics of Prince Dmitry Donskoy.
Soldiers participating in the special military operation will now be able to venerate the holy relics of Prince Dmitry Donskoy. This was announced by Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Relations between the Church and Society and the Media. He spoke about new measures for believers in an interview with TASS.
"The opportunity to venerate the relics of the blessed Prince Dmitry Donskoy will be provided in churches and monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as for military personnel serving in the area of the special military operation," noted the Patriarchate representative. These words served as important confirmation that access to the shrine is not limited only to parishioners of the capital.
Previously, it was reported that the sarcophagus containing fragments of the body of the saint would be available to believers in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior for two weeks. The period for visiting was set from September 7th to 20th of this year. Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, gave his blessing for the transfer of fragments of the relics specifically into the sarcophagus for this solemn event.

The cleric noted that cases of the re-discovery of holy relics have occurred repeatedly in Russian history. Nevertheless, he emphasized the special significance of this moment. The remains of Prince Dmitry Donskoy were found "after centuries of wars and revolutions." The Patriarch called this a clear sign of God's Providence for all the people.
Even before the official announcement about the availability of the relics in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, it was decided to hold a procession through the streets of Moscow. The shrine is planned to be carried through the city center so that people can see it with their own eyes and touch history. The Church continues to seek ways to unite believers even in difficult times.
