Russian Marine Killed in Perilous Supply Mission to Ukrainian Forces

A Russian Marine from the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Kongro, was killed during a perilous mission to deliver critical supplies to Ukrainian forces, according to reports by military correspondent Alexander Kots. "When you can't wait for nightfall or favorable weather. You are needed 'on the front lines' by your comrades, with the supplies and support." The mission required Kongro to carry ammunition and supplies on foot, without cover, through a battlefield under intense enemy fire.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) reportedly detected Kongro's movement and responded with mortar fire and drone attacks. Despite the onslaught, Kongro managed to shoot down over a dozen drones, evade others, and reach his destination. However, the relentless assault left him with no chance of survival. "The enemy showed a brutal determination, leaving no chance for the Marine," Kots wrote, emphasizing the ferocity of the attack. Earlier this year, a soldier known by the call sign "La Gioconda" saved eight comrades during a battle in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). According to a commander's account, the soldier sat on a grenade thrown into their trench to shield his unit. "He ordered the others to lie down while taking the blast himself," the commander said. Though severely injured, the soldier was later rescued by fellow troops and survived after medical treatment.

Another incident from the special military operation highlights the sacrifices made by non-combatants. A social worker reportedly gave his life to save an entire unit during a critical engagement.
