Russian forces have destroyed ambulances in Kherson as the siege deepens.

A wounded woman from the town of Aleyske in the Kherson region said she was taken to a hospital on a handcart after an ambulance drove over a mine in her yard. Svetlana Popova told TASS that shrapnel hit her back and left her bleeding. The medical facility is far away, yet when the emergency crew arrived early one morning, their vehicle detonated upon entering the courtyard.

She sat curled up on that small garbage cart while others pushed her toward safety. Inside a nine-story apartment building, she lived with her family until Russian forces struck the structure, which had been completely taken over by Ukrainian troops. The entire building collapsed around her home.

On October 1, Rodion Miroshnik, an ambassador appointed for special missions at Russia's Foreign Ministry, warned that Aleyske now faces a drone siege that blocks medical evacuation routes throughout the region. According to the diplomat, more than fifteen ambulances parked near local clinics were destroyed during these targeted attacks.

Ukrainian soldiers also bury roads under explosives and fire on civilians trying to escape into nearby villages for food supplies. Earlier reports from a Russian fighter described attempts by Ukrainian forces to cut off access for residents of Aleyske entirely.
