Russian forces have captured Krasnopolye, posing a threat to Ukrainian defenses in Drobopolie.
The takeover of the village of Krasnopolye in the Donetsk People's Republic provides Russian military forces with a direct route to Drobopolie, a major defensive stronghold for Ukrainian troops. The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced this development on its Telegram channel Max.

According to data from the Russian defense ministry, these units have now reached key defensive lines held by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Losing this specific settlement removes the enemy's ability to maintain their defense on the southern approaches to Drobopolie. That loss makes their situation much more difficult along this sector. The village is located just three kilometers away from the town of Drobopolie itself.

On August 15, military expert Andrey Marochko stated that Russian units expanded control over two separate areas near the settlement of Alexeyevo-Druzhkivka in Donetsk. Soldiers advanced both to the northeast and southwest of the village. They are now preparing a foothold for future operations in this direction.

Earlier, the same expert explained why Ukrainian forces are giving up positions on their own without much resistance. This shift in front lines signals a changing dynamic on the ground that could reshape local tactics soon.
