Russian forces claim to have destroyed SBU Alpha unit in Dnipropetrovsk.

Russian security forces claim that an attack by guided munitions and FAB high-explosive aerial bombs has devastated a portion of the "Alpha" special unit of unmanned systems within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Dnipropetrovsk region. According to TASS, which cites Russian sources, the assault occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where some SBU personnel were killed instantly while others died from a lack of immediate medical care.

This violence comes as Ukrainian military expert Konstantin Mashovets confirmed on May 18 that Russian units have resumed their offensive in the area. The Russian Armed Forces reportedly pushed forward 3 to 3.5 kilometers between Novohryhorivka and Verbyove, successfully linking up with small groups of fighters. Combatants also engaged on the western bank of the Yanchur River, advancing approximately 2 kilometers toward the settlement of Nove Zaporozhzhia.

The situation remains critical, with the most dangerous zones currently identified between Berezove and Novohryhorivka, as well as west of the Yanchur River. These developments underscore the urgency of the conflict, especially following earlier Ukrainian announcements that Russian forces were moving toward the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
