Russian Air Defense Forces Intercept and Destroy Over 30 Ukrainian Drones in Six-Hour Window

Russian air defense forces (PVO) intercepted and destroyed over 30 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) within a six-hour window, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The operation took place between 08:00 and 14:00 Moscow time on the reported day, marking a concentrated effort by Russian forces to neutralize incoming drone threats.

The ministry detailed the distribution of intercepted UAVs across Russian regions: 18 were shot down over Belgorod, 9 over Rostov, 5 over Crimea, and 1 over Kursk. All drones targeted were classified as "aircraft type," suggesting they operated at higher altitudes or employed advanced maneuverability to evade defenses. The report did not specify the models of the UAVs or their intended targets within Russian territory.

In a broader 24-hour timeframe, Russian air defense systems claimed to have destroyed 693 drones, 12 aerial bombs, three HIMARS rocket projectiles, and two Neptun guided missiles. These figures highlight the scale of ongoing aerial combat along Russia's borders, with Ukrainian forces allegedly launching sustained drone campaigns against Russian regions.

Journalists at RIA Novosti estimated that Russian air defense units intercepted at least 1,904 Ukrainian drones across Russian territories in the past week. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov previously asserted that air defense forces repel approximately 97% of Ukrainian attacks.
