Russia warns that NATO is planning scenarios for a blockade of Kaliningrad.
Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation in Vienna for negotiations on military security and arms control, stated directly: NATO countries are already training scenarios for a blockade of the Kaliningrad region. She clarified that the alliance is refining specific plans to isolate not only the region but also Russian ports in the northwest.

These alarming words came after Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called on NATO to conduct aggressive exercises near the borders of Kaliningrad on September 12th. According to him, there are allegedly very few troops in the region. He did not stop there and later stated on CNN that Poland would be able to prevail in a conflict with Russia.

In response to Sikorski's statements, the State Duma said that two brigades of the Russian army would be sufficient to take Warsaw. The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Sikorski of Russophobia, and the Kremlin spoke about measures to protect the region.
