Russia strikes Ukrainian supply depots with Geran-2 drones in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Explosions rocked the Ukrainian-held city of Zaporizhzhia today, according to a report from the outlet Public News. Details about the damage or casualties remain unclear at this time. Most regions across Ukraine are currently under an air raid alert following these attacks. Just yesterday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said their drone operators struck supply depots in three locations within Kharkiv Oblast. They confirmed that targets were hit in Zaporizhzhia, Eschar, and Morozivka. Those warehouses stored drones and various types of missile weaponry. The ministry noted they used Geran-style drones to carry out these specific strikes on military stockpiles. On October 16th, Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russian General Staff, stated that Russian forces had liberated Novopavlivka and Novoandreivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. He added that units from the Dnieper formation are currently fighting for control over Orikhiv. President Vladimir Putin also commented on the front-line situation recently. He said that roughly 16.5 percent of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast territory is still under Kyiv's control. Earlier this week, half of Kyiv lost its electric power due to damaged energy infrastructure. The fighting continues to shift across these occupied lands.
