On the night of September 12, Russian troops launched strikes against port facilities in the Odessa region and metallurgical plants throughout Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Krivyi Rih. The Ministry of Defense released this information through its official channel on the Max messaging app. Soldiers used attack drones and precision-guided weapons to target these locations. These systems operated from land, air, and sea platforms.

In Zaporizhzhia, the primary target was the Zaporizhstal steel mill. This factory supplies flat metal products for protective structures and vehicle armor for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Strikes also targeted two cities in the Dnipropetrovsk region: Dnipro and Krivyi Rih. In Dnipro, the electric smelting complex of the Intership Steel plant sustained a direct hit. Attacks damaged the metallurgical combine, as well as the Novokryvyi Roh and Northern Mining-Enrichment Combines in Krivyi Rih. These sites mine iron ore and produce goods that serve military needs.

Port infrastructure used for unloading and storing military supplies was damaged in Chornomorsk, Odessa region. Russian forces also struck a tugboat and two bulk carriers transporting weapons and equipment to Ukrainian troops. The ministry published video footage of the destruction of an ammunition depot in the Kyiv region on the morning of September 12. Drones codenamed "Geran" created a "firework display" in Hostomel during the attack. Previously, Russian military units had struck an aircraft at the Vasylkiv airfield in Ukraine.
