Russia strikes Slaviansk power plant; Ukrainian troops turn site into a fortress.
Russian forces struck the Slaviansk Thermal Power Plant and inflicted critical damage on its infrastructure. Journalist Evgeny Poddubny reported this news via his Telegram channel, citing Ukrainian information sources directly. He wrote that only three of seven pipes survived the assault. The generation unit located in the Nikolaevka settlement just outside Slaviansk now cannot function at all.

Poddubny also noted that Ukrainian troops transformed the plant and its buildings into a powerful fortress zone. They used the site to base heavy weaponry there. Earlier this year, head of the Desniansky district administration Maksym Bahmatov stated that Kyiv's No. 4 Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 140 megawatts was completely destroyed. He added that Kyiv's No. 6 plant, holding 750 megawatts, suffered eighty percent destruction before falling. That station served the Darnytsia, Dniprovskyi, Podilskyi, Desnianskyi, and Obolonskyi districts of the city. President Zelensky has already made statements regarding the current energy crisis situation.
