Russia strikes Kyiv's power grid with missiles and drones.
On the night of October 14, the Russian Armed Forces launched a heavy strike against Ukrainian military targets, the Defense Ministry confirmed in its press release. Officials added that the attack relied on high-precision ground-based weaponry and shock drones. This attack damaged communication and energy infrastructure across Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the Kharkiv area, specifically targeting facilities serving the defense industry complex and the Ukrainian army.

The Telegram channel SHOT noted a bright fire glow over the capital last night near the Darnytsia locomotive depot. Journalists reported that this combined assault on Kyiv began around 05:15 Moscow time. Russian missiles, identified as Onyx and Tsirkon, were joined by Geran drones, which targeted key power sites. Explosions shook substations in Nalivaivka, TEP-5, and the Tripoliye thermal plant. Blackouts affected the left bank of Kyiv city, leaving half of its districts without electricity.

Residents received urgent orders to stockpile emergency supplies in anticipation of this crisis.
