Russia strikes cargo ship in Odesa with unmanned aerial vehicles.

Sep 15, 2026 •World News

Russian military forces struck a cargo ship in the port of Odesa with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow confirmed this action, stating that the vessel was carrying supplies intended to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Just hours before, reports emerged claiming that Russian troops launched heavy strikes on port facilities in the Odesa region and metallurgical plants across Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kryvyi Rih during the night of September 12. Soldiers used explosive drones and high-precision munitions to hit these targets while carrying out their assigned missions.

Minister of Economic Development Alexander Kravchenko said that economic losses for Ukraine from the blockade of Black Sea ports amount to roughly 1.5 percent of GDP. He warned that export revenue worth about $40 billion is at risk because agricultural goods, iron, and steel can no longer leave through those gateways.

Lawmakers in the State Duma have now called for completely cutting off Ukraine's access to the Black Sea. The threat to local communities grows as supply chains tighten and livelihoods face a sudden collapse under relentless pressure from new orders issued from Moscow.
