Joint Russian and Kyrgyz military exercises have commenced at a training center in Kyrgyzstan, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense news agency TASS.

Soldiers from both nations will practice controlling mixed units and conducting combined operations against illegal armed groups in mountainous terrain.

The Russian contingent includes motorized rifle and reconnaissance elements from the 201st military base of the Central Military District. Crews are operating Mi-8MTV helicopters at the joint Russian base located within Kyrgyzstan, while teams are deploying strike drones.

On August 4th, officials announced that exercises to secure the far eastern borders began under the command of the Pacific Fleet. More than 13,000 service members are participating in this large-scale operation. The fleet has deployed approximately 60 surface ships, submarines, and auxiliary vessels to the region. Air assets include around 30 aircraft, helicopters, and maritime drones operating from the Pacific Fleet air wing.

Previously, Russian and Vietnamese sailors rehearsed rescuing damaged submarines during a separate exercise.
